Terms of Service
Effective Date: June 19, 2026 · Last Updated: June 19, 2026
GenreFix is operated by Cat 5 Storm Protection LLC, a Florida limited liability company ("GenreFix," "we," "us," or "our"). By using GenreFix, you agree to these Terms of Service. Please read them carefully.
The Service
GenreFix analyzes your music library file and classifies every artist, album, and track in your collection into a structured genre taxonomy developed by The Structural Ear classification method. Depending on the tier you purchase and the services you select, GenreFix provides one or more of the following:
- A classification report showing the genre assigned to each artist, album, and track in your library, with confidence levels and explanations for any low-confidence classifications (Tier 1 — Report Only)
- Automatic rewriting of your library file's metadata tags to reflect the new classifications (Tier 2 — Report + Auto-Tag)
- Identification and segregation of duplicate tracks within your library, presented as a separate report showing which tracks appear to be exact or near-exact duplicates (Duplicate Finder)
The Duplicate Finder identifies duplicates based on track metadata (artist, title, duration, and file characteristics) and presents them for your review. GenreFix does not delete any files from your library — all decisions about what to keep or remove remain entirely yours.
Who May Use GenreFix
GenreFix is a service for individual music collectors managing their personal libraries. You may not use GenreFix to classify music libraries owned or operated by a commercial entity — including but not limited to streaming services, record labels, music distributors, music metadata services, or any business whose primary purpose involves the commercial exploitation of music catalogs — without a separate written commercial license from Cat 5 Storm Protection LLC. We reserve the right to refuse service or void any transaction we determine to be commercial use at consumer pricing.
One-Time Service, No Subscriptions
GenreFix charges a single flat fee per library processed, based on the total number of tracks in your library at the time of upload. There are no subscriptions, recurring charges, or hidden fees. The price you are quoted before payment is the complete price you pay.
No Refunds
All sales are final. GenreFix provides detailed descriptions of what each tier includes before you purchase. Because the service is performed immediately upon payment and the work product is delivered digitally, we do not offer refunds under any circumstances. If you believe there is a technical error with your results, contact us at hello@genrefix.net and we will work to resolve it.
Free Trial
GenreFix offers a free sample classification of up to 25 tracks. The free trial requires only an email address — no credit card is required. Free trial results are provided for evaluation purposes and may not include the full classification detail of a paid report.
Your Library File and File System Authorization
You represent that you have the right to upload the library file you submit to GenreFix. We do not verify ownership of the music described in your library file. GenreFix processes your music library file solely for the purpose of performing the services you have purchased.
Duplicate Finder — File System Access. The Duplicate Finder service reads music files directly from your local file system and moves duplicate files within the folder path you designate. By using the Duplicate Finder service, you explicitly authorize GenreFix to:
- Read the audio files and metadata in the music folder you designate
- Create a subfolder named !GenreFix Duplicates within that folder
- Move files identified as lesser-quality duplicates into that subfolder
This authorization is granted through the mandatory consent checkbox presented before the Duplicate Finder service begins. GenreFix will not delete, overwrite, or permanently alter any file — all moved files remain accessible in the !GenreFix Duplicates folder. You retain full control over which files are ultimately removed from your system.
What We Store
GenreFix retains the following information:
- Your email address and account information, for as long as your account is active
- The classification report and any other deliverables provided to you, retained indefinitely as a business record so we can verify exactly what you ordered, paid for, and received
- Artist names, album names, and track names extracted from your library, retained indefinitely as part of our global classification cache
- Your original music library file, retained for up to 90 days following delivery of your results, for the purpose of diagnosing any classification failures or technical issues you report. After 90 days, your library file is permanently deleted unless an active support issue requires us to retain it longer, in which case we will notify you.
We do not store the content of your music files themselves — only the metadata describing them.
Intellectual Property
The Structural Ear classification method, including its genre taxonomy, classification rules, and governing documents, is the proprietary intellectual property of Cat 5 Storm Protection LLC. Your classification report is yours to use for personal library management. You may not reproduce, resell, or distribute the classification method itself.
Accuracy and Limitations
GenreFix uses artificial intelligence to perform genre classification. While we have developed detailed classification rules and boundary criteria to maximize accuracy, we cannot guarantee that every classification will match your personal expectations. Genre classification inherently involves judgment calls, and reasonable people disagree about genre boundaries. Low-confidence classifications are flagged in your report so you can review them.
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Cat 5 Storm Protection LLC's total liability to you for any claim arising from your use of GenreFix shall not exceed the amount you paid for the service giving rise to the claim. We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages.
Governing Law
These Terms of Service are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, without regard to its conflict of law principles. Any dispute arising under these Terms shall be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Florida, and you consent to personal jurisdiction in those courts.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify registered users of material changes by email. Continued use of GenreFix after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.
