Privacy Policy

Information you provide directly:

• Your email address, when you register for an account or sign up for the free trial
• Payment information, processed securely by Stripe — we never see or store your full credit card number
• Your music library file, uploaded for the purpose of genre classification, duplicate identification, or both

Information generated during classification:

• Artist names, album names, and track names extracted from your library file
• Genre classifications assigned to each artist, album, and track
• Confidence levels and classification notes associated with each result
• Duplicate track identifications and the metadata used to identify them

We use the information we collect to:

• Perform the genre classification and duplicate identification services you requested
• Deliver your classification report and, if you purchased Tier 2, rewrite your library metadata
• Maintain our global classification cache so that artists already classified can be returned instantly to future users without a repeat AI call
• Retain business records of what you ordered, paid for, and received, so we can resolve any disputes or support issues accurately
• Diagnose classification failures or technical problems if you report an issue with your results
• Send you transactional emails related to your account and order
• Contact you about material changes to our Terms of Service or Privacy Policy

We do not use your information for advertising. We do not sell your information to anyone.

We share your information only as necessary to operate the service:

• Anthropic (AI Classification): Artist names, album names, and track names from your library are sent to Anthropic's Claude API for genre classification. Anthropic processes this data according to their own privacy policy at anthropic.com/privacy. We do not send Anthropic your email address, payment information, or any personal information beyond the music metadata required for classification.
• Stripe (Payment Processing): Payment transactions are processed by Stripe. We share only what Stripe requires to complete your transaction. We do not store payment card information ourselves.
• Resend (Transactional Email): We use Resend to send account-related emails. Your email address is shared with Resend for this purpose only.

We do not share your information with any other third parties.

• Your music library file: We retain your uploaded music library file for up to 90 days following delivery of your results. This retention period exists solely to allow us to diagnose classification failures or technical issues you may report. After 90 days, your library file is permanently deleted unless an active support issue requires us to retain it longer, in which case we will notify you. You may request earlier deletion of your library file at any time by contacting hello@genrefix.net.
• Classification results and reports: The reports delivered to you and the classification results generated from your library are retained indefinitely as business records. This allows us to verify exactly what you ordered, paid for, and received in the event of any dispute or support request. The classification data (artist names, album names, track names, and genre assignments) is also retained as part of our global classification cache, which is not linked to your personal account after your session ends.
• Your account and email address: Retained for as long as your account is active. If you request account deletion, we will delete your account and associated personal information within 30 days. Note that classification results and business records associated with completed transactions are retained regardless of account deletion, as described above.

Regardless of where you are located, you may:

• Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate personal information
• Request deletion of your music library file at any time, and deletion of your account and personal information upon account closure
• Withdraw consent to email communications at any time by using the unsubscribe link in any email we send

California residents: You have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal information we collect and the right to opt out of the sale of personal information. We do not sell personal information.

EU and UK residents: If you are located in the European Union or United Kingdom, you have rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), including the right to access, rectify, erase, and port your personal data. Our legal basis for processing your personal information is the performance of our contract with you (providing the classification service you purchased) and our legitimate interest in maintaining accurate business records of completed transactions. We use industry-standard security practices to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) for all data transmission and secure cloud database storage. No security system is impenetrable, but we take reasonable precautions to protect your data.

GenreFix is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify registered users of material changes by email. The effective date at the top of this page reflects the date of the most recent update.
